Abstract:
Information on the dipole moments of π-complexes of metals is surveyed and systematised in this article: cyclopentadienyl, arene, alkene, carbonyl, and polymetallic complexes. The possibility of using the dipole moments method for finding the geometric structure of the π-complex molecules, the spatial position of the ligands, and the nature and polarity of the bonds which arise in complex formation has been shown. The results obtained in measurements of dipole moments are compared with data from infrared and NMR spectra. X-ray diffraction, and the chemical properties of the π-complexes.
