Abstract: New theoretical and experimental data on the grain-boundary dissolution process in polycrystalline metals are reviewed. The original effects during transcrystalline dissolution are discussed, the basic models are analysed, and the localisation mechanism of the dissolution processes on the phase boundaries of polycrystals is described. The bibliography includes 86 references.
