Steady-state lasing in a filled telescopic resonator

Abstract: A scalar wave equation is solved to find the distribution of an electromagnetic field in a telescopic resonator filled with an amplifying medium. It is shown that the normal oscillation modes can be described by Laguerre functions. The conditions for oscillation of various modes in this resonator are found.
