Frequency response of a ring laser with a reversible pedestal

Abstract: An investigation is made of the frequency response of a ring laser operated with a variable-sign (reversible) frequency pedestal. Backscattering-induced wave coupling is observed under these conditions due to the asymmetry of the scattering in the opposite directions. An analysis is made of single- and two-mode stimulated emission.
