Abstract: The technique of Brillouin scattering at λ =488 nm was applied to determine the longitudinal and transverse hypersonic velocities, Young's moduli, shear moduli, Poisson ratios, elasto-optic constants p₁₁ and p₁₂, and extinction coefficients of the potentially useful laser glasses LGS-247-2, LGS-250-3, LGS-I, and KGSS-1621.
