Abstract:
A study is made of the self-interaction and compression of high-power femtosecond pulses. The dynamics of transformation of the time envelope is analyzed and the spectrum of a pulse is considered under conditions when an important role is played by the inertia of a nonlinear response and by the rate of change of the complex amplitude of nonlinear polarization. The results of an analysis are compared with the experimental data and recommendations on the selection of the optimal parameter are given.
