Mode properties of Bessel beams

Abstract: The exact solutions of the wave equation for homogeneous active or passive media are obtained in the form of nondiffracted well-collimated Bessel beams. An analysis is made of the mode properties of Bessel beams, of the methods of formation of these beams, and of their potential applications.
