Determination of vibrational temperatures in the active media of CO₂ lasers

Abstract: Rigorous expressions are obtained, on the basis of a temperature model, for determining vibrational temperatures of CO₂ from the ratio of the gains for the lines of the auxiliary and main laser transitions. The spontaneous emission probabilities A_mn (J) for the laser transitions 00⁰2– [ 10⁰1,02⁰1]_I,II are determined and approximated by analytical expressions.
