Abstract:
A study is made of the dynamics of solitons in fiber waveguides with slowly varying parameters. Equations are derived for the description of the evolution of soliton parameters. It is shown that in a wide range of the fiber waveguide characteristics the velocity of a soliton satisfies the Riccati equation. An estimate is obtained for the energy of the radiation generated during motion of a soliton in an inhomogeneous fiber waveguide. An analysis is made of the influence of radiation losses on the transfer of data along fiber-optic communication lines.
