Abstract:
Theoretical and experimental investigations were made of the statistics of photocounts of modulated laser radiation transmitted by a turbulent atmosphere. Experimental measurements were made for three types of modulation: rectangular, sawtooth, and sinusoidal. Theoretical calculations were carried out for the first two types of modulation on the assumption that the modulation period is considerably greater than the sampling time of the counting unit. A comparison of the experimental and calculated results showed that the calculated curves describe quite well the experiments.
