Abstract:
Single crystals of p-nitro-p'-methylbenzalaniline (NMBA) were grown by crystallization from a solution. Measurements were made of the components of the nonlinear susceptibility tensor and the frequency dependence of the refractive indices. The largest components of the nonlinear susceptibility tensor of NMBA, d33 and d32, were respectively 250 and 24 times greater than d11(SiO2). The use of NMBA crystals in frequency doubling was studied.
