Compensation of nonlinear distortions of scanning light beams

A. P. Sukhorukov, V. A. Trofimov

Abstract: A study is made of adaptive control of wavefronts of scanning light beams with the aim of achieving the maximum concentration of the beam power on a receiver moving in transverse and longitudinal directions. The conditions of stability of a discrete control algorithm are considered and an analysis is made of the response time of an adaptive system as well as of the quality of compensation of the thermal and Kerr defocusing in thick and thin nonlinear layers. The results obtained are confirmed by a numerical modeling of adaptive systems based on a solution of quasioptic equations. A derivation is given of laws of variation of the control constants designed to reduce the time taken to set the optimal parameters.
