Abstract:
The waveguide approach is used to suggest an algorithm for the design of a line consisting of multiply spliced high-aperture quartz glass–polymer fibers. The contribution of the absorbing cladding to the total losses, the temperature dependences of the total losses, and the dependence of the splice losses on the temperature of the receiving fiber are determined and analyzed. The results are compared with the experimental data, and also with calculated curves deduced by the geometric-optics approach.
