Physical processes in active media

Influence of spatial inhomogeneity effects on the asymmetry and shifts of frequency resonances in two-mode lasers

Abstract: The mode approach is used in an investigation of the profile of resonances in two-mode lasers under spatially inhomogeneous conditions. Expressions are obtained for the frequency shifts of lasers stabilized with the aid of frequency resonances. It is shown that in the transit range of absorbing gas pressures these shifts depend strongly on the ratio of the impact (collisional) and transit line widths.
