Dynamics of nonlinear rotating light waves: hysteresis and interaction of wave structures

S. A. Akhmanov, M. A. Vorontsov, A. V. Larichev

Abstract: Theoretical and experimental studies were made of a new class of nonlinear optical effects, rotating waves, optical reverberators (multilobe structures), and helical waves carrying a high topological charge. Hysteresis of two-dimensional wave structures was observed and interpreted quantitatively, and the role of small- and large-scale transverse interactions in the generation of structures and excitation of optical turbulence was examined.
