Influence of the absorption of the excitation energy from the ⁴I_13/2 level of erbium ions on the operation of Lu₃Al₅O₁₂:Er crystal lasers

Abstract: An experimental investigation was made of Lu₃Al₅O₁₂:Er crystal lasers utilizing a self-saturating transition ⁴I_11/2–⁴I_13/2. The absorption of the excitation energy from the ⁴I_13/2 level of erbium ions had a considerable influence on the energy characteristics of these lasers.
