Interaction and competition between forward and backscattering in stimulated Raman scattering

Abstract: A theoretical analysis is made of stimulated Raman scattering in which the pump wave is preferentially backscattered due to the influence of the axial anti-Stokes component. The feasibility of achieving this regime is discussed.
