Optimization of thermal self-interaction in a moving medium in the case of elliptic beam scanning

Abstract: A study is reported of thermal self-interaction of elliptically scanning beams in a moving defocusing medium. Numerical modeling is used to show that a suitable selection of the parameters of a curvilinear scanning trajectory can increase significantly the maximum intensity of the beam in a given part of its path. The main results of such numerical modeling are supported by an experimental study.
