Abstract:
The Monte Carlo method is used to calculate the efficiency of transport of the pump radiation from a flashlamp to an active element in a cylindrical reflecting cavity. The efficiency is studied as a function of the cavity diameter, the diameter of the active element, and the interaxial distance between the flashlamp and the active element. The influence of the length of the reflecting cavity and of the reflection coefficient of its walls on the pump efficiency is taken into account. The effect of some characteristics of the active element on its absorption of the pump energy is considered.
