Influence of mechanical treatment of the resonator on the parameters of an electron-beam-pumped cadmium sulfide laser

Abstract: An investigation was made of the laser parameters of bulk cadmium sulfide single crystals grown by the static sublimation method. It was established that mechanical treatment of the electron-bombarded surface had a condiderable influence on these parameters. The laser threshold and efficiency obtained for a cleaved surface were close to the best results obtained for platelet crystals.
