Switching of the resonator q factor by stimulated Mandel'shtam–Brillouin scattering

Abstract: The conditions for Q switching by stimulated Mandel'shtam–Brillouin scattering in a laser resonator were investigated theoretically and experimentally. The intensity of the radiation generated under free-oscillation conditions and its energy density should exceed certain threshold values. Measurements were made of the frequency shift of the generated radiation relative to the center of the gain profile.
