Mode selection in a resonator with electrooptic and piezooptic control

Abstract: A study was made of electrooptic control of a single-mode laser (the Q factor was switched on slowly and this was combined with a positive feedback between the Q factor of the resonator and the radiation generated in it). The longitudinal modes were selected by a resonant reflector whereas the transverse modes were selected using the spatial distribution of the transmission of a light switch which was established by the excitation of piezooptic vibrations in a crystal.
