Abstract: An analysis is made of the task of construction of an interferometer with an output signal weakly dependent on the frequency of the incident light and yet highly sensitive to a change in the distance between the mirrors. This can be achieved by the use of resonant dielectric mirrors with the reflection phase and amplitude strongly dependent on the frequency within the width of the response function of the interferometer. The interferometer can be reduced to a four-mirror configuration in the case of the proposed types of mirrors. The relevant expressions are derived for this configuration. It is shown that the distance between the mirrors can be considerably greater than has been assumed earlier. A system of parameters is introduced and specific examples are considered.
