Theoretical basis of the method for reducing drift of the zero level of the output signal of a fiber-optic gyroscope with the aid of a Lyot depolarizer

Abstract: A theoretical justification is given of the widely used method of stabilization of the output signal from a fiber-optic gyroscope with a broad-band radiation source by a Lyot depolarizer. Different variants of including a depolarizer in such a gyroscope are considered and the role of the dichroism and birefringence induced in the gyroscope system is discussed.
