Prospects for frequency stabilisation of metal vapour lasers

Abstract: A proposal is made for extending the range of laser wavelengths in which measurements are possible with the precision expected of frequency standards. The proposed stabilisation of the emission frequency of metal vapour lasers is by reference to ¹²⁷I lines.
