Abstract:
An investigation was made of the conditions under which detonation was suppressed in working mixtures of a pulse-periodic chemical laser based on the chain reaction of fluorine with hydrogen. Introduction of sulfur hexafluoride into the working mixture suppressed detonation when the partial pressures obeyed pSF6/pH2 > 3. This was observed for the near-optimal (from the point of view of maximisation of the output energy parameters) composition of the mixture.
