Abstract: The physical and laser properties of beryllium-containing BeAl2O4, BeAl6O10, Be3Al2Si6O18, and BeLaAl11O19 oxide crystals doped with chromium and titanium ions are studied. The Cr3+:BeAl2O4, Cr3+:BeAl6O10, and Ti3+:BeAl2O4 crystals were shown to compare favourably in physical and laser properties with the well-known laser media and to be candidates for femtosecond laser systems.
