Abstract:
The gain was determined for stimulated Raman scattering in liquid nitrogen pumped with iodine photodissociation laser radiation (1.315 μ). The measurements were carried out under conditions of linear amplification of an external signal, which was the first Stokes component (1.89 μ). Special circumstances arising from the inhomogeneity of the transverse distribution of the incident light beam were noted. The gain was 1.5±0.2 cm/MW, which was somewhat below the theoretical value.
