Abstract:
A numerical solution of the rate equations for a Q-switched YAG:Nd3+ laser yielded the time characteristics of the radiation pulses emitted as a result of the 4F3/2→4I13/2(λ = 1.318 μ) transition. In contrast to lasing as a result of the main 4F3/2→4I11/2(λ = 1.064 μ) transition, it was found experimentally that the radiation pulses are characterized by a slower rise and longer duration, in agreement with the calculated results.
