Parametric amplification accompanied by excitation of surface polaritons

Abstract: A new method for investigating surface polaritons is suggested. It is based on the determination of the amplification of a signal in three-frequency parametric interactions involving a surface polariton wave. A quantitative theory is developed and it follows from its conclusions that the effect should be observed in practice.
