Volume diffraction gratings with inclined layers in thinfilm optical waveguides

Abstract: A study was made of the diffraction coupling (in and out) of radiation by means of volume phase diffraction gratings with inclined layers in thin-film and stripe waveguides. Under optimal conditions, the efficiency of coupling of radiation into a thin-film waveguide could approach ~100%.
