Investigation of an ytterbium vapor laser

Abstract: An investigation was made of the excitation conditions, and of the energy and time parameters of several stimulated emission lines of ytterbium vapor. Positions of the laser transitions in the ytterbium spectrum were determined and population inversion mechanisms were considered for the first excited states of the ytterbium atoms. Stimulated emission of six new lines was observed.
