Parametric excitation of higher Stokes components in stimulated Raman scattering

Abstract: A theoretical analysis is made of the parametric excitation of the higher Stokes components of stimulated Raman scattering by amplification of the first component in a dispersion-free medium. It is shown that the excited Stokes components are locked and this can be used in the generation of ultrashort light pulses.
