Abstract:
The spectroscopic characteristics of emerald grown by the flux method were investigated in the optical and radio ranges. Lasing was obtained by flashlamp pumping at the 757 nm wavelength using a $2\times2\times11.5$ mm active element cut perpendicular to the optic axis. The threshold was 7 J, the degree of polarization of the radiation was 0.97 ($\mathbf E\parallel C_6$), and the differential efficiency was 0.02 %. The radiation could be tuned in the 715–795 nm range when the pump energy was 12 J.
