Propagation of a pseudorandom spatially modulated optical signal through an amplifying medium

Abstract: A study is made of the propagation of a light wave having a complex transverse structure in an amplifier under saturation conditions. An equation is obtained for the signal-to-noise ratio at the amplifier exit.
