Investigation of inhomogeneities in transparent media using backscattering of laser radiation

Abstract: The reaction of a gas laser to a component of the radiation returning to its resonator was used to determine the scattering by bulk damage zones in ruby elements and the scattering at the boundary between ruby and leucosapphire in composite samples.
