Abstract: The problem of damping motion of a hydromechanical system consisting of a viscous fluid and its bounding rigid walls is solved. A condition under which there is an abrupt deceleration of the hydromechanical system is determined.

Keywords: viscous fluid, free and fixed rigid walls, damping motion, abrupt deceleration of hydromechanical system.
