Abstract: The problem of the stability of the sandy bottom surface in a rectangular pressure conduit with respect to spatially one-dimensional perturbations. The problem of bed stability is solved using an analytical formula of sediment discharge which takes into account the effect of bottom pressure on sediment movement. An analytical relationship of the bottom wavelength to the hydrodynamic flow parameters and the diameter of bottom particles is obtained and compared with experimental data.

Keywords: pressure conduit, bottom waves, mathematical model.
