Theories of ideal plasticity with a singular yield surface

Abstract: Specific features of the theories of ideal plasticity which are based on the Tresca yield criterion and the maximum reduced stress criterion are discussed. An analysis is carried out in terms of the canonical basis of the deviatoric stress tensor.
