Extension of an elastic space with a rigid bar

Abstract: An asymptotic model for deformation of an elastic space with a rigid thin reinforcing bar is constructed. The elastic modulus of the fiber far exceeds the elastic modulus of the matrix. The shape optimization problem for the reinforcing bar is solved on the basis of the uniform strength condition.
