Interaction of a streamwise vortex with the normal shock

Abstract: Interaction of a supersonic streamwise vortex with the normal shock is considered. Two interaction modes (weak and strong interaction) are identified. It is demonstrated numerically that strong interaction can lead to vortex breakdown.
