Abstract:
Two single-crystal modifications of the Mach–Zehnder electro-optic modulator are described. Preliminary theoretical estimates show that these variants are capable of ensuring the amplitude modulation of laser beams with elevated power (no less than several watts) at frequencies up to 4 GHz. The obtained modulation characteristics show that the modulation depth in the proposed devices reaches 50–80% and a half-wave voltage of these devices amounts to 100–160 V.
