Abstract:
The effect of the lateral expansion of laser-generated plasma on the mechanisms of ionization front propagation in air is considered in the cases of laser-supported radiation wave, fast ionization wave, and laser-supported detonation wave. It is shown that this effect most significantly influences on the light-supported detonation wave. The effect of lateral expansion on the fast ionization wave at a radiation intensity of $\sim$10$^{11}$ W/cm$^2$ can be ignored.
