Resonance properties of two-dimensional photonic crystals

Abstract: The resonance properties of two-dimensional photonic crystals, which are manifested by the localization of radiation inside these objects at frequencies corresponding to their bandgap boundaries, have been theoretically studied. This effect is compared to resonances in photonic crystals with violated internal structure, which are related to the generation of defect modes.
