Abstract:
The binding energies of Si 2$p$ and Co 3$p$ core-shell electrons in four stable cobalt silicides (Co$_3$Si, Co$_2$Si, CoSi, and CoSi$_2$) have been determined by high-resolution photoelectron spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation. The silicides were formed by solid-state epitaxy under identical conditions on Si(100), Si(110), and Si(111) faces of silicon single crystals.
