Abstract:
We propose to create a nonequilibrium distribution of electrons with respect to their rotational velocities in electrostatic and magnetic traps by using a transversely inhomogeneous field of a kicker coil placed inside the trap. Electrons moving through the kicker acquire a transverse velocity, which results in their capture between mirrors of the trap. After the accumulation of a sufficient charge and switch-off of the electron beam, electrons leave the trap with low rotational velocities. As a result, the distribution function becomes nonequilibrium, which leads to the emission of a short (nanosecond) pulse of the superradiance type.
