Abstract:
The toroidal rotation velocity in the peripheral plasma of the TUMAN-3M tokamak was measured with the injection of a high-energy atomic beam in the direction of the plasma current and in the ohmic H-mode. It was found that the time evolution and steady-state velocity of the toroidal rotation at the periphery, directed towards the injection direction and the plasma current, are the same in both scenarios. The observed toroidal rotation is associated with the generation of a negative (directed towards the plasma center) radial electric field at the periphery during the L–H transition.
