Abstract:
The difference in the temperature distribution over the cross-section of cooled and heated air flows with axial and radial arrangement of the outlets of a counter-current vortex tube has been experimentally established. With an axial arrangement of the outlets of both cooled and heated air, the temperature gradient over the cross-section of the flow depends on the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the outlet channels. The zones of secondary vortex structures have the minimum temperature. With a radial arrangement of the outlets of both cooled and heated air, the temperature over the cross-section of the flows is equalized due to the destruction of secondary large-scale vortex structures.
