Abstract: IR spectroscopy in the range of vibration of hydroxy groups has been used to analyze the binding energy of mineralized deposits to cardiac valves of patients of varied gender and age. A tendency was revealed toward a gender-independent rise in the binding energy of mineralized deposits to valve tissues with increasing age of patients. The analysis enables making recommendations concerning the early diagnostics of valve calcination, monitoring of its development, and therapy of calcinoses.
