Abstract:
A new method is proposed for determining the rate of evaporation of a group (cluster) of droplets during their gravitational sedimentation in a high-temperature gas medium. Results of experimental investigation of the evaporation of clusters of distilled-water droplets of 0.77-mm radii in air at temperatures within 650–800 K are presented. It is established that the evaporation rate significantly decreases with reduced distance between droplets in the cluster.
